Show Notes

Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Debbie Wileman, Renowned Judy Garland Impressionist

About Harvey's guest:

Today’s special guest, Debbie Wileman, is an incredibly unique vocalist from England who’s taken the world by storm.  During the pandemic lockdown, this suburban housewife and mother, like many of us, was looking for something interesting to do.  She always knew she had a good voice, with a particular talent for imitating some of the most popular singers, including Barbra Streisand, Doris Day, Cass Elliott, Julie Andrews, Shirley Bassey and Karen Carpenter.  But there’s one particular vocal giant that few, if any, impressionists would dare attempt:  the greatest entertainer of all time, Judy Garland.  Our guest not only reproduces Judy Garland’s spectacular voice – she is literally channeling her.  It’s jaw-dropping.

During the pandemic, our guest started posting her performances every day on YouTube and Facebook.  She did a song a day for a hundred days.  In no time, her performances went super-viral, getting millions of views, making her not only an internet sensation, but a star.  She recorded a fabulous album entitled, “I’m Still Here”, in honour of Judy Garland’s 100th birthday, in which she performs as Judy Garland, singing classic modern songs that Judy never lived long enough to record – songs like “Yesterday”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Evergreen”, “If He Walked Into my Life” - and yes - even Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”.

Several months ago, our guest went on her first American concert tour, which included a triumphant sold-out performance at Carnegie Hall, which was heralded by critics as nothing short of astounding.  In fact, the typically restrained Bobby Patrick at Broadway World, wrote that our guest’s performance at Carnegie Hall was so magical, so eerily authentic, and so astonishingly overwhelming, that the wild and thunderous applause and numerous standing ovations from the audience, became a show in and of itself.
