Today’s special guest, Paul Brown, is highly acclaimed guitarist, producer, composer and engineer, who is renowned for his unique and irresistibly smooth fusion of instrumental jazz, R&B and blues.
In an outstanding career spanning over 30 years, he started out producing, composing and engineering for the top music artists from across the R&B, pop and contemporary jazz spectrum, including Diana Ross, Luther Vandross, Jeffrey Osborne, George Benson, Patti Austin, Boney James and dozens more.
He’s amassed over 75 number 1 hits and won 2 Grammy awards. In 2004, he finally stepped out from the producer’s chair and into the spotlight, launching his own hugely successful solo career, highlighted by his trademark R&B driven sound, that’s become a foundational element in smooth and urban jazz.
He’s recorded 12 albums, many of which landed in the top 10 on the Billboard Jazz chart, including “Up Front”, “White Sand”, “Foreign Xchange” with Marc Antoine, “Funky Joint”, “Truth Be Told”, and my personal favourite, “Ones Upon a Time”, which contains 10 number 1 hit songs that he produced for himself and other artists, newly recorded with a number of great guest musicians.
His brand new album entitled, “Promised Land”, takes his dynamic cool urban jazz style to a new level of soulful, rhythmic diversity.
