About Harvey's guest:

Today’s guest, Millicent Martin, is a beloved and iconic actress and singer whose 7-decade career spans every medium in the world of entertainment.

After some early theatre work in her native England, she made her Broadway debut in 1954 alongside Julie Andrews in “The Boyfriend”.  She’s also starred on Broadway in the original production of “42nd Street”, and “Side by Side by Sondheim”, for which she was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

She received a second Best Actress Tony Award nomination for her starring role in the musical, “King of Hearts”.   In London’s West End, she starred in “Expresso Bongo”, “The Crooked Mile” and “The Card”.  And over the years, she’s starred in a number of other shows in London, including the Sondheim musical “Follies” and “Gigi”.  In movies, she’s appeared in “Nothing But the Best”,  “Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines”, “Stop the World – I Want to Get Off”, “Alfie” and “The Last Word”.

And on television, she became a household name in the UK, first on the enormously popular BBC hit series “That Was the Week That Was”, for which she won a BAFTA TV Award in 1964 - and then, for 3 seasons, as the star of her own TV series, “Mainly Millicent”, for which she won a TV Society Award.

On American television, you’ve seen her in dozens of shows, playing memorable characters like “Harriet Conover” in “Downtown”, “Gladys Moon” on “Moon and Son”, “Lili Faversham” on “Days of Our Lives”, “Gertrude Moon”, Daphne’s mother, on “Frasier”, and most recently, as Joan-Margaret, on “Grace and Frankie”, co-starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.  She’s also had guest starring roles on “The Drew Carey Show”, “Will & Grace”, “Modern Family”, “Hot in Cleveland”, “2 Broke Girls” and many others.
