Today’s guest, Dave Karger, is a highly respected and revered authority in the world of entertainment journalism and film history. He’s an award-winning host and interviewer on Turner Classic Movies.
He’s also made hundreds of appearances on The Today show, where he’s been the Oscars expert for the past 24 years. He also spent 17 years as a senior writer and Awards Correspondent at Entertainment Weekly, and he’s also co-hosted ABC's “Live from the Red Carpet” on Oscar night, and he is one of very few people who have had the honor of serving as the Academy’s official red-carpet greeter.
In 2015, he received the Publicists Guild Press Award for outstanding entertainment journalism. And today he’s here to discuss his wonderful new book entitled, “50 Oscar Nights: Iconic Stars and Filmmakers on Their Career-Defining Wins”, in which dozens of Oscar winners - everyone from Rita Moreno, Steven Spielberg, Elton John, Martin Scorcese, Meryl Streep, Clint Eastwood, and many more – actually tell us, in their own words, how they felt about being nominated, how they prepared for the Awards show, how they reacted when they heard their names announced and got up on stage to accept their awards, and how the entire experience impacted their lives and careers.
