Show Notes

Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Tony Mantor, Singer / Songwriter, Musician & Producer

About Harvey's guest:

Tony Mantor is an American singer/songwriter, pianist, and producer.

His career spans from the late 70’s, performing as an artist and touring sideman, to the present, consulting and working on shows for legendary performers.

In the studio he has produced both emerging and established artists plus, when time allows, his own personal music.

As an artist Tony had multiple nationwide releases. He charted in U.S. trade magazines, such as Cashbox, and internationally in Europe and the U.K.

This success led him to Nashville. Since that move he has produced and developed many aspiring singers, helping them pursue their musical dreams.

In 2005 his production/development company, Plateau Music, became an independent record label releasing select singers to radio in Country, R&B, AC, pop, and Jazz/Soft Rock.

During the next fifteen years Tony produced 35 nationally charted records…      25 of them reaching the top 40 and several going top 10.

Some other highlights of the past 15 years include:

2005 to 2009: Several successful records in the Country charts with one reaching #21 in MusicRow. It was the highest rated single by an independent label/producer at the time…a record that stood unbroken for 11 years.

2012-2020: He produced and managed legendary R&B singer Jackie Wilson’s son, Bobby Wilson with four top 10 Adult Contemporary hits… the last being a Top 40 Mediabase Hot AC hit in 2019.

2015: His productions reached radio in the U.K. with tremendous success. Since establishing Plateau Music U.K., he has continued releases to radio, which also has created touring opportunities for his artists.

2012-2016: Tony’s artist Sam Austin hit the Top 50 of MusicRow and Billboard country Indicator charts.

2017: He started production on a tribute to Glen Campbell with his daughter Debby Campbell, who performed with Glen for over 24 years on the road.

2018: Tony produced another top 40 Country record in MusicRow with Sam Austin.

2019: He announced signing a production deal with Happy Days star Donny Most, with a single due to radio in 2020.

Tony has won 3 awards in the United Kingdom. One for management and another for his label, Plateau Music in 2019

Tony has been on the Grammy ballot 4 times for producer of the year.

As a producer he has produced songs that have reached the top 40 in the national charts of FMQB AC, MusicRow Country, Billboard Indicator Country, Billboard Indicator Top 40, Mediabase Activator Country, Mediabase Activator Top 40, Hot AC, Billboard Monitored AC, Mediabase Monitored AC.

2018: Tony recorded a CD and hosted a documentary following Tom Cole, a singer who honored his songwriter brother Eugene Cole, who unfortunately lost his life in the line of duty as a Somerset Deputy Sheriff.

Tony is now active in the film world as host of a documentary, currently under production, and a TV show that is under contract to be produced later this year.

He is currently working on his first solo project as an artist since 1993, which was the year his single reached the top 50 in the Cashbox charts.

His current solo project titled “Why Not Me” features a single of the same name which will be released to radio in the U.S. and worldwide. Portions of the receipts from this single will be earmarked for selected charities, to be announced.

Also, in the works is a new touring show.
